The junk at the bottom of the box

You know those cheap toys you get from cereal boxes, restaurants, kinder eggs and Rotten Ronnie's? Well I keep all of them. I tuck them away (from the baby of course) in a special place and they are never to be seen by my toddler until.......

we have an appointment we must attend or groceries to pick up, this little stash comes in handy. I simply fill a little reusable plastic tote (the zipper ones curtains come in) with several of these toys. Because he has never seen them they are a novelty and usually entertain him when stuck in the car or hanging out in the grocery cart. The best part is if he should either lose one or toss it out the window or worse yet at a fellow diner...no big deal!nothing a new box of froot loops won't fix.

My family is a 9 hour drive away. I keep this sort of toy for those trips, and any by public transit, too. The other bonus is that you don't have to deal with all these little toys on a regular basis at home.

Great post! We keep all our freebie toys in the car so there is something special to play with on trips. And this way they also don't clutter our house.

Great tip! I knew those little annoyances must have some type of good purpose!

Great idea! We have many of those little toys as well (my son Lucas is 4 andhalf years old), and all stored into his wall hanging's toys compartment. He save them after the fever of playing is over, then forget for some weeks (or even months), and suddenly, he grabs something and it's just like new! LOL Very helpful indeed! Have a great day! Great idea. We even have some clear plastic totes left over from new beach towels we bought last year. I'm going to put some together and toss them in the trunk!

This has worked great for me, too! When I can, I even stash new ones away for my older kids (7 and 5) to use whenever I need to reward them for something. (I occasionally get kid's meals myself to save calories.)

Hi. I wanted to apologize for the "tag" getting away from me. I've been so thrown off since vacation (or maybe behind?) and it slipped my mind. Now I'm doing our St.Paddy's day countdown..maybe I can jump on board one in the future(?).

that's a great idea. I have a bunch of "junk toys" for airplane rides also. By the end of the trip, the kids are so sick of the toys, I just dump them or donate them to a foreign country. HA!

Good idea! I was dreading throwing those out. Now I have another way to get the out of the toy room.
