Keeping my freezer organized is a never ending struggle. It seems like only hours after a marathon sorting session do I have to start over again. One way I found to keep some of my veggies on the straight and narrow are freezing them in glass canning jars. I do have to be careful as they are easily breakable but I simply use a box with the cardboard dividers to keep them from banging in to each other. The 500 ml size fit 2 cups of assorted shredded items perfect to thaw and toss into your favourite recipe.
During canning season I shred and freeze numerous jars of carrots and zucchini perfect for cakes with cream cheese frosting. Since trying Tammy's fabulous homemade cream of chicken soup I freeze those portions in the jars as well. To locate the needed item I can easily grab the jar as they lid has been labeled with the contents.
Well at least that is a small portion of my freezer that is staying organized. Does anyone have some unique ways to keep this space organized? I would love some ideas.

do you have an upright freezer or a chest freezer?
For my upright I just designate the shelves for different things. And poly bags of things either go in the basket on the bottom of the freezer or the door.
A friend who has a chest freezer she uses dollar store plastic baskets or milk crates to organize her freezer. This way she just has to pull out a basket or crate of things rather than digging thru everything!
I have a big deep freezer and I seem to constantly be reorganizing it as well, so perhaps I'm not the best one to be commenting! ;-) One of the things that is helping me though, is to use boxes. I have boxes at the bottom of the freezer. The one box contains the chicken, the other box contains the beef, etc. I have a little partition on the left side 9over the motor) where I keep all the veggies. When I make premade meals or freeze an extra loaf of bread (as I anticipate the birth of our first), I stack those dish on top of the box of hotdogs (that we don't use much in the winter!!). It may not be completely organized yet, but it's helping. At least I know which part of the freezer to put what, or to look for something. =)

Well, here's one idea I like for ground meat. When you bring it home from the store, repackage it in plastic storage bags according to how much you'd use in a meal. (In fact, if you brown it first, you'll have one step done ahead of time!) Then, before putting the bags in the fridge, squash them as flat as you can. Then you can stack them neatly and they won't topple over!
I have a great big chest freezer that has always seemed like a bottomless pit! I use boxes on the bottom level to corral different types of meat, and it has some sliding baskets on top that hold smaller things like veggies, fish, and other odd items.
To keep track of where things are, I make a "floor plan" of the space (sort of like a grid) and list the items in each area. Hang this on the front of or above your freezer. Cross things off as you use them, and transfer used items to a grocery list, also hanging on or near the freezer.
You can make your list on the computer to revise and print as needed or use a wipe off board.
